Parity

Louder always sounds better. Until you turn it off.

Push anything up 1 dB and it sounds better, whether it is or not. Parity measures what goes in and what comes out and holds the loudness the same, so when you flip your processing on and off you hear what it changed, not how much louder it got.

The Parity plugin
What it does

Parity in 4 parts.

Match what you hear

Parity measures loudness the way streaming services do (K-weighted LUFS) and trims the output to match the input, up to 12 dB either way. It lights MATCHED when the two are within 0.3 dB.

Two plugins, one job

Put one Parity first in the chain as SOURCE and one last as TARGET, in the same GROUP. Bypass your processing and the loudness stays matched. Eight groups, so you can run more than one chain.

MATCH ON or OFF

One key turns the matching on and off, and with it off the audio goes through untouched, bit for bit. You can always hear the plain difference too.

Free, and it stays free

No trial, no key, no nag. Parity is a free plugin because everyone who mixes should have a fair A/B.

  • Measured, not guessed. A test tone at -3.01 LUFS reads -3.01 at 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz.
  • Honest limit. SOURCE and TARGET find each other when both are in the same host process. A host that runs each plugin in its own sandbox will not link them.
  • Not part of the Nu series. It is a separate release with its own look.

Mac: macOS 12+, Apple Silicon and Intel, AU and VST3. Windows: 10 and 11, 64-bit, VST3.
