Sickle
Keep the S. Lose the sting.
Harsh S sounds are the first thing a listener hears and the last thing they forgive. Sickle listens to the band where they live and turns the voice down only while one sticks out, so the rest of the take stays alive.

Sickle in 4 parts.
It listens, then cuts
Sickle compares the sibilance band to the whole voice, so it works the same at any input level. When an S pokes out past THRESHOLD, it is turned down, never further than RANGE.
Hear what it hears
LISTEN plays the band the detector is working on, so you can sweep FREQ from 3 to 12 kHz and land right on the harshness.
Split or wide
SPLIT turns down only the highs, so the body of the voice is untouched. WIDE turns the whole voice down for the stubborn ones.
Linked stereo
Both channels share one detector, so a stereo vocal does not wander.
- Measured. On a test voice, a loud S burst was turned down by 4.5 dB while the vowel next to it stayed within 0.1 dB. With RANGE at zero the audio comes out unchanged, bit for bit.
- From Crucible. It is built on the de-esser inside our vocal chain.

- Not part of the Nu series. It is a separate release with its own look.
